My Body – Vessel for My Soul (A poem)

I have been thinking quite a bit about the struggle most women, in particular, face with regard to their bodies and body image.  I have had several conversations lately with women who wrestle with this issue.  I believe that it is important to remember that the body is the physical vessel for the soul – which is the essence of who we are.  This piece was inspired by this.

My body is

not my favorite place to be

at times

it feels a bit too tight

like outgrown clothes

My soul is

me unrestrained within

the shell

yet expanding beyond

all boundaries

My heart is

between body and soul

loving both

and connected to all

sharing light

Remember we each have our own beautiful and individual light within us.  Regardless of your body type, or how you feel about it,  your unique light is a manifestation of the powerful being you truly are.  How will you S H I N E your light today?
